Mediums - printmaking, sculpture & painting

Artist's Statement -Much of my sculpture is combination of metal and wood. Many of my paintings are acrylics and oil pastel combinations. All of my artwork reflects my travels and years I lived in the middle East. Currently, I am working on a series that reflects my experience of returning to the States. The violence, in my opinion, is worse than the Middle-East.

Biography - I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. My parents moved the family to Saudi Arabia when I was young. My mother taught the Art of Dance for 25 years. She started a school in Saudi Arabia and taught Tap, jazz and Ballet for about eleven years. I was always surrounded by art. I attended school in Cyprus, france and Switzerland. I stopped dancing my Senior year and studied theatre for a year. It wasn't until I was nineteen when I started studing Visual Arts. I finally completed my BA in Fine Arts in 1997. Since 1995 I have been working with children in the inner-city public school system in New Olreans. Not realizing that Art was cut from most American schools I decided to stay and help change the education system. Life without Art is destructive. After I complete my MFA I plan to become an EX-PAT once again. American society is much too disturbing for my psyche.
