Artist's Statement -Diane works in a realistic to Impressionistic style, painting a variety of subjects including Monet's garden, American & French landscapes in acrylic, soft pastel, and oil. She attempts to capture moments in time which convey a sense of atmosphere, solitude, thoughtfulness, and the joy of life.

Biography - L. Diane Johnson NAPA PSA APOW NAPPAP, FPA has been painting professionally since 1981 and is a well-known workshop instructor in France and the U.S. She began as a classic oil and soft pastel portraitist, and now concentrates her efforts in plein air painting landscape painting in acrylic, pastel, and oil.Diane is a full member of the Pastel Society of America, signature member of the National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters, member of Associated Pastelists on the Web, and signature member of the Great Britain National Acrylic Painters' Association.As confirmation of her rapid development as a rising artist, Diane was selected in 1988 as one of the top 100 emerging artists in the U.S. by the American Artist magazine, and rated as one of the top 10 "Best Buys" for investment art by The Roanoker magazine in 1990. Diane has received numerous awards for her work, and by 1998 was listed in the Who's Who in American Art, Who's Who in the South and Southwest; as well as Who's Who in Information Technology for her contribution to the Internet in Web site design and illustration. She also owns The Critique Shop, an online self-help site where artists can learn how to improve their drawings and paintings, The Painter's Exchange Café and The Plein Air Traveler Directory online for professional painters, and is an Associate Editor and Contributor for WetCanvas.com. Diane was invited to participate in the first ever White House Conference on Culture and Diplomacy in 2000. Diane's work has been eagerly accepted by corporate and private collectors alike on an international scale. She is a native of New Jersey, and has lived in Ohio, New England, Maryland and Virginia. Diane now lives with her husband in beautiful North Carolina.
