Biography - Bio: Jaff Seijas: Born in Tampa, Florida. Spent childhood in St. Petersburg. Encouraged by family members to paint. Family all very creative. Studied at Atlanta College of Art. Also private painting instruction with Dutch Artist Nan Hoover, and William Van Hettinga. Many travels abroad to Europe. First exhibition of drawings (1971) at Reese Palley Galleries in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Began traveling to New Mexico in 1978. Became a summer resident of Santa Fe, New Mexico. First major showing in Santa Fe at the 1979 Santa Fe Festival of the Arts; followed many showings at Robert F. Nichols Gallery on Canyon Road. Began a serious exploration of personal style in the 1980's, in an effort to produce works of unique individuality. Also many attempts to merge the visual Arts with the written word. These works include: The Journals of Villa Mysteria, and The Jazz Abduction. A personal preference for unusual background materials lead to experiments on antique vellum documents (mostly European). Thrust of work mainly concerned with attempts to depict the complexity and depth of the human personality.
