Artist's Statement -My paintings are explorations of my dreams, my emotions, and my imagination. With washes of color, vivid splashes and textural elements, my pieces are reflections of personal experiences. Much of my art is interwoven with symbols and prose to further conceptualize my themes, and all of my works have deep personal meaning.

Biography - Lynn Hughes is an abstract expressionist who resides just outside of San Francisco. Her work is shown in several prominent galleries and corporate spaces throughout the Bay Area where she has had several successful solo exhibitions over the years. She recently partnered with Mercedes-Benz for a special event and ongoing exhibit featuring some of her most recent paintings. During the past two decades, Lynn has supported many youth arts programs including volunteering as an instructor at the Lilian Paley Center for the Visual Arts in Oakland, California. Lynn has studied art at Las Positas College in Livermore, California; Chabot College in Hayward, California; and at the University of California at Berkeley.

"In 1991, the first Gulf War was in full force and I was overwhelmed by the frightening images on the nightly news. The missles floating through the night sky inspired me to create this piece."

My vision was to simply sketch and paint a women in repose, but as the piece progressed, she seemed to take on my own features. It is gilded with subtle accents of gold and the headstock is embellished with gemstones.
