Mediums - Acrylic, Oil, Watercolor

Artist's Statement -My paintings are expressions of my love and respect for the ocean and nature. When painting, usually I am trying to re-live the experience of how I felt when I was there, enjoying the warmth of the sun and the smell of the ocean air. I imagine that I am either walking down that beach or looking down at a waterfall and enjoying the nature all around me. My original inspiration for many of my coastal paintings is from the dream of looking through a window and seeing my favorite places on the other side.

Biography - A “native Californian”, I grew up living along the coastal areas of California and I have a deep appreciation for nature and the beauty of the ocean. My passion for California beaches, tropical islands and the colors of nature quickly became my primary subject matter, as well as my inspiration. I truly enjoy capturing the elements of nature surrounding the ocean in detailed realism in my paintings and photography. I am a relative newcomer to the professional world of art, but like most artists, I have been drawing and painting since I can remember. After pursuing art in college, I quickly figured out that in order to support myself, I would need to use these talents in a way that would make money. I became a electronics design engineer and used my artistic talents to design printed circuit boards for cell phones, computers and aeronautics. Painting remained a passion but was relegated to hobby status when work allowed. I now am finally able to focus on art full time and able to dedicate all my creative energies to painting and photography. I reside in San Diego with my husband and three children, two of which are now out on their own.

Early Morning Laguna
Early Morning Laguna, Acrylic,"24x30"
When I lived in Laguna beach, the highlight of my morning was to go down to the beach when no one was around and see what the waves washed up on the shoreline. This painting is intended to capture some of those moments of solitude I enjoyed so much.

Morning Reflections
Morning Reflections, Acrylic,"24x30"
I've lived and sailed on a yacht for many years in my youth. I've always enjoyed the way the water mirrors all the colors of the sails when the light hits it just right.

San Mateo Springtime
San Mateo Springtime, Acrylic,"22x28"
I was struck by the bright red-orange flowers in the foreground against the blues in the ocean and the greens on the hills from the spring rains. I wanted to impart all these bright colors in my painting.

Pink Peony
Pink Peony, Watercolor,"12x16"
I saw this beautiful flower with its intricate petals and colors and wanted to capture it. Watercolor seems to have brought out the fine details and shades of color that I was looking for.

Pebble Beach 15th Hole-South
Pebble Beach 15th Hole-South, Acrylic,"16x20"
I live on a golf course and enjoy the beautiful perfect greens all year long. I decided to paint some golf courses, like Pebble Beach in Carmel, California, because it combines the stark contrast of the golf greens with the deep blue of the ocean.

Newport Coast
Newport Coast, Acrylic,"16x20"
A picture perfect spring day couldn't have been better with the bright purple of the flowers against the greens and blues along with the boat sailing across the horizon.

Koi Feeding Time
Koi Feeding Time, Watercolor,"8x10"
This watercolor was inspired by a koi photo from Vincent K. Tylor. I wanted to capture the frenzy of the koi as they splashed in and out of the shallow water.

Sailing Away
Sailing Away, Acrylic,"16x20"
I love sailing and was inspired to create a view of the yacht with all the details in my painting.

Vacation View
Vacation View, Acrylic,"16x20"
This is the kind of view we'd all love to have out our back door. Since we can't, the best we can do is hang it on the wall and pretend. This is a view from Villa Les Amis du Vent in St. Barthelemy (West Indies).

Carmel Lagoon View
Carmel Lagoon View, Watercolor,"8x10"
All along the California coast are spots just like this one. Places to just sit and relax while enjoying the serenity and expansive view of the ocean. This is just one of those spots where I could sit all day and just take in the changing colors and hues.

Cougar Perch
Cougar Perch, Watercolor,"8x10"
I painted this as a surprise for my husband who loves the beauty and majesty of cougars. Though not as large, it reminds me of one of our cats who will sit high above everything and survey his territory.

McWay Falls
McWay Falls, Acrylic,"22x28"
This is one of my favorite areas along the Big Sur coastline. I have photographed it many times and finally was able to capture it in one of my paintings. I love the way the falls tumble into the sea right along the beach.

At The Helm
At The Helm, Acrylic,"22x28"
There is nothing quite like the peace and serenity of sailing out on the open water. I wanted to capture that feeling as you imagine yourself at the helm of this sailboat.

Iris
Iris, Acrylic,"16x20"
When I saw this close-up Iris, I just had to capture all of its beauty on canvas. I just love the collage of color and the veins in the petals.

Pebble Beach 15th Hole-North
Pebble Beach 15th Hole-North, Acrylic,"16x20"
A compliment to my other painting which is a different view of the 15th hole.

Mirrored Lilies
Mirrored Lilies, Acrylic,"14x18"
I have always enjoyed the peacefulness of sitting in front of a lily pond and just gathering my thoughts. The vivid colors and reflections of this scene caught my eye and made me want to bring it home.

Coastal Redwoods
Coastal Redwoods, Acrylic,"12x16"
My client wanted something to remind them of their favorite pastime, hiking. As they often hike among the coastal redwoods along the central coast of California, I painted a hazy morning among the trees.

China Cove Paradise
China Cove Paradise, Acrylic,"20x24"
This painting was inspired from an original photograph by Maria Draper. The flower landscaped mountains down to the granite rock cliffs are surrounded by the gentle green waters of China Cove. Point Lobos is my favorite place to hike when in Northern Cali

First Dive
First Dive, Acrylic on Canvas Board,"8 x10"
The Hatchling’s first dive into the ocean surf. The loggerhead turtle hatchling is one of many making its way to the open ocean.

Lake Como Morning
Lake Como Morning, Acrylic,"24x30"
This painting is of the early morning reflections of Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como. The villa is one of the most romantic places on earth. Many people come to exchange wedding vows or just enjoy the peaceful beauty of the grounds.
