Artist's Statement -"Like a dance with inner conversation, painting for me is the language of feelings and self-awareness." PiA DiStefano
Biography - I was born in Bronxville New York. Since I was very young, I have been fascinated with expressing myselfthrough paintings and drawings. I was born with the desire to create art.
I have studied art at Parsons,The New School in New York NY, The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston MA, Wellesley College in Wellesley MA, and Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR. I studied painting techniques during an apprenticeship with Daniel Greene in Salem, New York.
I have traveled extensively through Europe, Africa and Asia. In 1999, and was awarded a stipend to travel to Morocco to paint with a group of artists. I spent the summer of 2000 in Katmandu, Nepal volunteering at Helping Hands,a clinic for poor people. During my stay there, I sketched some of the patients at the clinic.
My work has been exhibited in Los Gatos, Saratoga and San Jose,CA, Medford,MA, New York, NY and Corvallis, OR.
My studio is located in San Jose, California.
