Artist's Statement -Man has changed the way of thinking about Art, Art changes the way of thinking about man Lets look around! Today the Artist must be fully conscious public is more attracted by the artists name, the title, the size, the date of the work than the Work itself. This attitude is extremely svalutative for Art. You lose sight of the true message of Art because you are attracted by useless information. Its simply a score collection, people come in, look for, find and consume faster and faster. People go with desperate speed in search of the name, reading at first the descriptive label and at least give a look to the Work. You cant give to an useless and thieving object a so high role without depriving the living matters their essence. There, in the confused memory of the observer is placed the score gained in front of the Work and he immediately forgets the message of the Work itself. All that remains in the observers mind is only a mass of names, titles, sizes and dates. So you can say: I saw it! Nothing is more bleak, false and svalutative. You see by your eyes but also above all by your mind. All that comes out from the observation of contemporary man, I decided to make the Label integrant part of the Work of Art, it will not have its habitual role but thanks to the use of the Fish-Hook it becames a symbolic connection between the human Mind - now open by the reading - and the message of the Work of Art. Man will be inside the Work, as never before, and all that unconsciously. As the fisherman uses the Fish-Hook to take the prey (after putting a bait), so my Works use the Fish-Hook to capture the Mind of the lazy and absent minded observer. The Label comes infact to be part of the Work of Art, having a very revolutionary role as never before. It becomes a key in order that man comes into the Work of Art and the Work of Art into the man. From the deeply unequal relation between man and the artistic Work, you come to the statement of an Art balancing the communication and the mutual exchange of nourishment between the two fellows. Art takes its revenge versus the modern and so inveterate exploiter. The Work of Art born today with the precise purpose to give but above all to receive. Art stops to be exploited to claim from man all that man claims from her. Man will be conscious of his privileged role in the process of communication to my Works. The observers Mind is not simply captured by the Fish-Hook of my Work, but becomes materia quadro-cerebrale of the mutual increase process. After all it is not important man knows all that we have said, even if he becomes part of a unique process, cooperating on giving life to a new artistic age. My Works do everythings. It is enough man brings eyes and brain. My Works have the power to enter so much deeply in the Mind of the observer so that to touch physically the cerebral matter as to dagger the fish-hook in it and to understand the essence. The Mind of a man devote and attentive to so futile things becomes symbolically captured by the Fish-Hook, part of a process able to rewake and make it less absent-minded and attentive to the same essence of the living matter that is in front of it. Biography - ArteO De Giorgio, or undersigned, was born in Brindisi on 29 September 1979. Since I was a child I have always had a maniacal interest for the drawer and my parents have continually favoured in their way this my vocation. My father, as I can know, would wish so much to be able to draw but he had to content himself to study and to admire the history of art on the books. I thanks Good, think of having received much more opportunities than he had. Farther to have the opportunity to practise my art, I can when I want come to touch by my eyes the places I love with their works of art. Speaking about my father I have written as I can know because I have been lucky to know him for only twelve years; even if he had stopped smoking before my birth he fell got hill and died for a lungs cancer. But fortunately I have a mother who belives in me and she hasnt never hinder in my thing. As all the children I have gone to school and till my father was with me I obtained good results. When I lose my land mark I decided to change my philosophy and to study only at the end of the school year, to content myself to pass. There was the interest but it was incompatible to the school methodologies. After compulsory school I went to the Liceo Classico and also there¦ I went on to be a philosophe! In the meanwhile my passion for art was always stronger and I realized that my books of Latin, Greek and Italian were very good to draw on them! To keep up with my personal library of history of art increased too, becoming particulary rich of books about Florentine Mannerism, first amoung all Pontormo and of books about contemporary different currents. By attending the Italian school I realized that it doesnt go right and mainly tends to stifle the innate inclinations. Very often my teachers speaking about high subject - as art, poems, philosophy, literature - were indifferent and cool without passing nothing and making only the work of a mechanical state employees. When I decided to matriculate to the faculty of Beni Culturali - History of Art - at Lecce University, I did it with the precise aim to do what I like and I must say it was a successful. I discovered the world of university as an other world. Often my examinations become true shows where you can assist to furious quarrels or very pleasant and erudite conversations. In our society it isnt difficult to meet teachers who consider culture as nothing important but who are interested only in their title, and the prestige that comes from it. Always ready to be right and to brandish their superiority. Its only a matter of appearance then! Only if you have a title, and you are a Professor you can be culturally endowed and to receive trustworthiness! Benedetto Croce had no titles and no digrees but he taught in the best universities of the world! Its also true universities are crowded by viscid elements with tongues oxidized by force of licking the professors back But they also have the right to realize themselves! Its necessary to specify that the Italian university very rarely teach something about the new currents of contemporary art! My university career is coming to are end and I must say to consider myself very lucky. I think - at present - that nothing is better than to leave Art to administre our life. Its wonderful to practice, to study It, to admire It, to live! Every time I visit a museum or a gallery, it is not important if of antique, modern or contemporary art or if it is in Italy or in the rest of the world, I cant help remarking most visitors run to read the descriptive label before watching the work! I ask myself if the work of art is the label or that canvas or that piece of wood hanged on the wall! I could not to rest indifferent in front of all that and my art is the confirmation of it! I think only few people are really interested to stop and enjoy a work of art and to get estranged from all the rest and from so many useless information that are around. It is not for a chance that now museums are visited in a quick way! People want to see only the most known works. Its so arrived the moment to operate artistically! The artistes life who leaves everything and everybody is not interesting for me also if I admit to be enough asocial to my taste. Above all in these last years my art has began to torment myself never-ending; it is burst out in me as a volcano that never stops to let lava to come out. I started to produce works in a great number with the precise aim to communicate with people and the entire society. I have became much more sensible to recognize and to analyze all the hypocrisies that grasp our life and make us always more empty and detached. I decided to expose only the works I think more important, more essential, to be precise. The works witnessing with their imagines and words the essence of my art.
