Artist's Statement -Kathleen King is a Bay Area artist exploring fluid states of being in two recent series, "Disappearing/Becoming" and "Frisson". Spontaneous and improvised, these paintings are composed using an abstract language of tangled line and shape, calligraphic gesture, and emotional color. As these elements interact--floating, interpenetrating, overlapping--an elegant individuality is expressed. Ms. King graduated from UC Berkeley where she studied with Joan Brown and Elmer Bischoff. She has exhibited locally at Hang Gallery, Pro Arts, and the Berkeley Art Center.
