Artist's Statement -Aguafuego, the brainchild of JBeatz, is a coming together of a unique group of musicians to interpret not only her music, but also that of several songwriters in the group. This band reflects a variety of cultures in the music, thus expanding and deepening the sound – including traditional South American music, classical, reggae, world, rock, jazz, hip hop, folk, and original songs in Spanish and Italian. Aguafuego brings a global mix of sounds that create a tapestry for the timely lyrics and alluring melodies of JBeatz. A soulful blend of jazz and world music, JBeatz combines Natalie Merchant's rich vocals, the powerful lyrics of Bob Marley, and the soul of Gil Scot-Heron.
