Biography - David realized at an early age, that he loved to paint and sketch, but put his artistic endeavors on hold to raise a family, with his wife, now of over 40 years. He moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 1963 and at the urging of his wife and family, decided to finish his schooling. After taking Fine Arts at the University of Victoria, he proceeded to Vancouver, BC, to finish another two years of intensive schooling. He also found time to take courses and personal instruction from several well known artists. After a move to the interior and an early retirement, because of an accident, he and his wife returned to Victoria, B.C. Although he works in acrylics his first love is for Watercolor's. The versatility of the medium allows him to express his feelings for the visual beauty of his country, especially Vancouver Island. David and his wife have traveled extensively around the world and it has been a rewarding experience for them to be exposed to different cultures and better appreciate the way other people live. Although he has traveled, and visited many cities and rural areas, across Canada, he also had the opportunity to travel by ship for a year, around Vancouver Island, the west coast of British Columbia and the Queen Charlotte Islands. These experiences show in the visual representations of his work. He was involved in the studies of Orca Whales for a year with Sealand of the Pacific, now Oak Bay Marina. This experience studying Orca whales led to a small role; along side Jacque Cousteous's film crew. David is a past president of the Victoria Society of Artists, a founding member of a successful artist's co-op in Victoria, and the original organizer and chairman, for one of the largest gatherings of artists famous and emerging, (close to 150 participants and over 5,000 visitors to the event each day), in British Columbia, at the world famous gardens of Royal Roads University. His paintings hang in corporate and private collections in Canada, The United States, Japan, and Europe.
